I specialize in limited edition sculptures, pottery and Masks.
My vessels have the sculptured forms of women on them; they are finished with dry glazes.
My bowls and sculptures depict the beauty and colour of dancers. I want to show the variations of the movement of their bodies as they dance to the hidden music.
My sculptures and vessels are one off pieces. I do this because I make a form that appeals to me at the time of making it; this could be influenced by something I have seen, a girl walking down the street, my experience as a dancer, a photograph in a magazine, or just my imagination.
My work is formed with a mixture of earthenware/stoneware and paperclay and is finished with multiple firings of dry glazes, oxide washes and underglazes. I have had a love affair with dry glazes ever since I stated studying pottery.
My fascination with the colours of dry glazes over textured surfaces has not diminished over the years and I still get a buzz each time I open the kiln and see what awaits me.
I have Graduate Diploma of Arts – Ceramics and have completed further studies in pottery and sculpture.
My Vessel/Lamp entitled REAL WOMAN won the Acquisition Award at the Valley Potters 2005 Annual exhibition.
My work is available at various galleries around Melbourne or from my home studio by appointment. |
