Artist Statement
I started working with clay in the early seventies. I have worked in England and Vancouver. I am of Irish decent and I feel that my inner cultural life is from the northern hemisphere, but being born in Melbourne I have all the cultural influences that it can evoke.
My interests lie in figure work making animals and all the variations. I am inspired by Indigenous crafts, cultural history, literature, politics and European ceramics.
I have always considered craft a cultural practice that maintains the link with our societies history and its human condition, it is the archetype of human expression.
