I have immense interest in many aspects of Ceramics. Whilst studying I was mainly focussed on wood firing and this continues to appear in my collected works. Since emerging from the institutional environment I have wanted to support myself from the work and I have needed to diversify my practices. I have learned to really enjoy teaching and also to produce a range of work that interests me as well as the buyers who come to my studio.
I am true to stoneware and love to delve into the classical oriental glazes. It’s not only tableware I produce though and I have developed a glaze palette that can be used in a painterly manner somewhat akin to watercolour. This crosses over with my love of the land and the impressions gained from the environment around me. Hence my wall mounted landscapes.
A particular teacher I had in Art School took care to nurture my abilities in sculpture and this has lead to explorations in mixed media. This is all shown on my website.
I hold a Diploma from Lismore TAFE and a Master of Arts from Southern Cross University. |
